hof viking temple
project designers: Jeffrey P. Turko, Gudjon T. Erlendsson
Invited competition for a pagan Viking Temple on a site not far from the location of the TURF CITY masterplan. There were two main spatial components that needed to be addressed in the proposal, the chapel and the feasting hall. We used a Viking knot motif as the main organizational diagram for the temple. The motif was a torus mobius strip type of organization which we believed would broaden our design potential and also ground the project culturally. This proved effective as a driver for the interweaving of spatial organization materials relationships and the ground conditions within the scheme.
